How do Transitions lenses work?

Transitions lenses contain photochromatic molecules that react chemically when exposed to ultraviolet rays. UV light causes these molecules to change their shape, absorb light, and darken.

How do I know the size of the frame that best suits me?

To help with the selection of the frame we have classified the eyeglass frames into three groups:

tamaño monturas

The sizing of the frame depends on personal preference. However, as a general rule when the matter comes to choosing the right size of your frame is that neither it should be too small or too large when you put it on your face.

If you have already had glasses, look inside the glasses. You will see a number like this: 49 □ 16-143. These numbers represent the size of the glasses in millimeters: the diameter of the lens 49, the width of the bridge 16 and the length of the legs 143,

.

The size of your glasses will give you an idea of what size glasses to choose from on our website.

If it is the first time you wear glasses and you do not know which frame size to choose, we recommend using the virtual or TRY ON glasses tester that allows you to test the glasses models in a virtual way.

How often should optical prescription be renewed?

As a general rule we recommend that you have your eyes examined once a year. The professional will let you know if your formula has changed and you need an optical prescription, or you can continue using the same prescription.

Is it difficult to get accustomed to the progressive?

When using progressive lenses for the first time, it can present a little discomfort especially when looking sideways. This is due to the peripheral distortion zone presented by the lenses in the lateral areas, outside the main viewing direction. The intensity of this distortion depends on the quality of the lens design and the amount of the visual defect.

The optical industry is designing better quality lenses to enhance the visual experience of progressive lens wearers. Progressive lenses of high definition or "Free Form" are lenses that offer a zone of clear vision ampler and more comfortable and unique for each patient.

Are there different types of progressive?

Yes, there are conventional progressive lenses and high definition progressive lenses made with an advanced technology that allows the personalization of the lenses reducing the zones of peripheral distortion and thus improving the comfort of the patient. Read more

Why is it important to wear sunglasses?

Sunglasses reduce the intensity of visible light. It has been estimated that chronic exposure to ultraviolet light can cause short- and long-term eye problems, such as cataracts (opacity of the lens) and pterygium (abnormal growth of the conjunctiva), among others. Hence the need to wear good sunglasses that protect the eye from light, glare and ultraviolet rays.

Can I order sunglasses with corrective lenses?

Of course. After selecting the frame, click on "Montura + Lentes". Follow the steps to select the quality of your lenses, type of lenses, and color treatment, where you can choose the type of color you want: Tinted lenses, Photochromic lenses, Polarized lenses, or Mirrored lenses.

What are progressive lenses?

Progressive lenses: These lenses are specially designed to correct all distances without a visible line, providing a smooth and continuous transition between distances. The lens power varies progressively, increasing towards the lower edge of the lens, allowing the user to see all distances from view.

What are photochromic lenses?

Photochromic lenses are lenses that react to changes in illumination, more precisely, to the presence of ultraviolet (UV) light. These lenses are clear indoors and darken when exposed to light, in proportion to the amount of ultraviolet radiation. As the UV light diminishes, the lenses will lighten. The most popular photochromic lenses on the market are Transitions lenses.

What are polarized lenses?

Polarized lenses filter light that reflects horizontally on surfaces such as snow, water, pavement, and allows vertical light to pass which reduces glare. They are very useful for driving, sailing, fishing, and skiing.

Do you sell frames without lenses?

Yes, you can buy the frame only. Select "Solo Montura".

8. REFRACTIVE ERRORS

What is amblyopia?

Also known as a lazy eye, it is the decrease of visual acuity without any organic lesion that justifies it. In most cases there is an asymmetric defect of refraction (myopia, astigmatism or hyperopia) that has not been detected or corrected in childhood. When the difference in visual capacity between the two eyes is considerable, the child uses only the eye of greater vision, while the opposite eye ends up being functionally nullified, even if their physical structure remains intact.

What is Hyperopia?

Hyperopia or Farsightedness occurs when the cornea is too flat or the eye is smaller such that the image focuses behind the retina, rather than being directly above it. The hyperopic person usually complains about not seeing closely, the distant vision may or may not be blurred, depending on the degree of hyperopia and the person's age.

What is myopia?

Myopia (Nearsightedness) occurs when the light coming from far away focuses in front of the retina. As a result objects from far away are blurred while nearby objects appear clear.

What is Presbyopia?

Presbyopia is a decrease in the ability to focus sharply at all distances due to the loss of the elasticity of the lens of the eye. Remember that, over the years, the elasticity of the lens diminishes and, as a consequence, it loses the ability to adjust to all distances. It is a physiological alteration that occurs in all people over 40 regardless of whether or not there is a refractive defect. There are three options to correct presbyopia:

With single vision lenses to correct near and / or far apart separately. This option only allows you to see well at one distance, usually up close.

With bifocals, which allow to see two distances, generally far and near.

With progressive lenses which that allows you to focus at all distances.
